Background 
In the metal material processing, machinery manufacturing and other industries, emulsions are usually used as coolants or lubricants. After the emulsion is used repeatedly for many times, it is deteriorated and becomes a waste emulsion to be discharged. Although the water content is not large, the CODcr content is as high as several thousand to 200,000 mg/L, and the oil content is also high. Because the oil is emulsified as O/W forms, traditional filters and bio-chemical way can hardly treat. If the emulsion is discharged directly without treatment, it will bring serious harm to the environment.The main components of this type of wastewater are mechanical oils, surfactants, soluble organic matter and solid suspended solids.
